Although Disney World promotes fun for all ages, there are some rides that are considered too risky for very young children. The biggest concern is that the safety harnesses will not secure a small child well enough to insure they will not fly out of their seat at high speeds. Another factor that is considered when judging is little ones should be permitted on certain rides are elements of the experience that consistently frighten young children, such as sudden noises and simulated explosions. To make sure everyone can enjoy their rides safely, Disney World enforces various height requirements that range from 32 inches to 52 inches. The good news is that this measurement is taken with shoes on, so be sure and figure that into your calculations.

To make sure thateveryone who's eligible can enjoy the advanced amusements even if they have small ones in tow, many restricted rides offers a child swap option so you can take turns with others in your party watching the child while the others ride--but without having to enter the cue line again. Check with the Disney Cast Member when you enter the line to see if it offers the child swap service. This alternative is not recommended for children over three, however, since they are aware that they are being intentionally left out of the fun and may raise a fuss.

To insure that you do not have to disappoint your young child by promising them rides on restricted attractions, Disney World provides the following list of rides and their height requirements so you can plan your trip inadvance.
